Mustang Installation Page 1

Step 1

Remove the trunk trim and the 4 nuts holding the tail light assemlies in place, remove the tail light assemblies from the vehicle (both the left and right).

Note: Put a towel on the bumper and rest the tail light assemblies on the towel to help protect your paint, the wiring will hold the tail light assembly in place on the bumper, no need to remove them completely as shown in photo.

Step 2

Locate the innermost lamp socket, it has only 2 wires (don't mistake it for the back-up light), cut the wires (brown and black wires) flush to the socket, remove and discard the socket (save the bulb).

Note: This step is the same for both sides.

Step 3

Install the new lamp socket provided in the kit, hook the brown wire from the lamp socket to the brown wire on the tail light harness, hook the black wire from the lamp socket to the black wire on the tail light harness, the picture shows the wires soldered and shrink wrapped, but you can use the wire nuts supplied in the kit.

Note: This step is the same for both sides.

Step 4

From inside the trunk drill a 3/16" hole in the rubber grommet that contains the tail light wires, you could also punch or cut a hole in the grommet.

Note: Be careful not to damage the the tail light wiring harness and this step is the same for both sides.
